Kansas City, Kansas– Day 5 (Pit Stop)

After leaving MILO Farm, we took an emotional journey to the home of the Kansas City Chiefs. Last year we lost a family member who lived just outside of Kansas City who was a huge fan of the Chiefs and would send the kiddo all kinds of merch. We spent time visiting the stadium, walking around it and talking about our family member and how much they loved us, how they showed their love, and how we can honor them with how we live going forward. There were many tears shed, and we sat in our feelings for as long as we could manage before visiting where they called home.

We then headed to Little Rock, Arkansas, to visit one of my best friends from high school, and it felt amazing to reconnect, have her meet my child, and enjoy each other’s company again.

This day was filled with so many emotions and was a big reminder that the people in our lives are what is important and a huge reason why I wanted to take this trip. We spent a lot of time and energy running from our feelings with distractions embedded into our lives. This trip has given us a lot of space to feel and work on the root of them. It has not been easy; I have had a few moments questioning if this is actually helping and if I should call it quits. What has kept me going is the encouragement of my friends and family and knowing that if we quit, I will probably regret it and this opportunity may not come again. The world is changing very fast, almost unfathomably fast, but there is still SO much good in the world, so much to learn and feel.

I cannot picture myself anywhere else, and I am so grateful to have this time with these people, doing these things.
